Kid Bookie announces new album, ‘Songs For The Living // Songs For The Dead’

Kid Bookie, the MOBO Award-nominated artist known for his defiant blend of rock, metal, and rap, is set to release his audacious new album, Songs For The Living // Songs For The Dead, on 13 September through Marshall Records.

Accompanying the announcement, Bookie has also introduced fans to his powerful new single, "Scars", which encapsulates the raw energy and introspection that defines the upcoming album.

Songs For The Living // Songs For The Dead offers a journey through eleven tracks that merge diverse musical styles and thematic complexity, reflecting on personal struggles, societal issues, and the existential crises of modern life. The album features an impressive roster of collaborators, from punk icons to hip-hop artists, each adding a unique layer to its rich sonic tapestry.

Talking about the album Bookie said:

“A lot of this album is about feeling inadequate. There are different facets and layers of that inadequacy, and it covers most of my inadequate parts, whether that's my art or feeling inadequate in terms of love."

"Scars", the latest glimpse into Bookie's expanding universe, delves into the emotional turmoil of being trapped in a damaging relationship, metaphorically depicted as a mental prison from which escape seems impossible. The track is a visceral portrayal of the scars left by such entanglements, both literal and metaphorical, highlighting Bookie's knack for blending personal narrative with broader social commentary.

With this release, Bookie continues to challenge the stereotypes often associated with Black artists in the UK, blending genres and themes in a way that defies simple categorization. His commitment to authenticity and the exploration of uncomfortable truths about identity, acceptance, and personal growth resonates throughout his work, making Songs For The Living // Songs For The Dead not just an album, but a statement.

As anticipation builds, fans can catch Kid Bookie live as he joins the line-up for major festivals and supports high-profile acts across Europe, bringing his electrifying performance to stages that promise to enhance the themes of his music with the visceral impact of live energy.

Songs For The Living // Songs For The Dead is not only a testament to Kid Bookie’s evolution as an artist but also a beacon for anyone striving to find their voice in a chaotic world.
